Appearing August 28, 1775, in the London publication, The Remembrancer, this was one of the earliest British depictions of Boston and vicinity following the battle at Bunker Hill. This generalized sketch map focused on Charlestown and Boston, depicting the location of Bunker Hill and Breeds Bastion, floating batteries in the Charles River, and the British batteries and fortifications in Boston and on Boston Neck. Meanwhile, it also depicted the American camps and lines of Generals Putnam, Ward, and Thompson, in the surrounding communities of Cambridge, Brookline, and Roxbury.
