Displayed here is the first French edition, first impression of Dr. John Mitchell's landmark map of North America. Available to a French audience during the French and Indian War (1754-1763), this map provided the most accurate depiction of interior North America available at the time. The map played an important role in treaty negotiations with foreign powers and Native Americans, and was referenced until after the Revolutionary War
