| Notes | - The plan shows the position of British and American ships over the course of a several days skirmish in Narragansett Bay. Cannon fire ensued between ships and from batteries in and around the bay, including near Fort Dumpling, Brenton Point, Rose Island and Goat Island, Coddington Cove and Coaster's Harbor Island.
- A British fleet commanded by Captain James Wallace included the Rose, Glascow, Symmetry and Scarborough. American forces were led by Col. Henry Babcock; ships include the American and Spitfire.
- An account of the skirmish on verso begins "...An account or representation of four successful cannonadings of the King's Ships at Newport Rhode Island on the 6th, 7th, 11th and 14th of April, 1776...".
- The maker of the plan is not identified, however, the account is believed to have been written by Ezra Stiles.
